the best Vietnamese food - small

Listen - if you want Vietnamese food without the hassel in Lake Oswego this is it, fresh and full of flavor. If you want service and someone to kiss your butt, go to a corporate chain. They have amazing Pho, the broth is just perfect. We also love the pork noodle bowl. Yea the owner is blunt and will say it like it is, who cares - as long as he's serving me some authentic Vietnamese food at a good price why complain. And to the person who thinks the owner was infatuated with your 5 year old daughter, you are sick. His wife is in the back cooking, and chances are he probably wasn't paying attention to you because of your poor attitude and snobbish standards.
Pros: best fresh Vietnamese in Lake O
Cons: location is hidden
Good food, but be patient and speak clearly

I work in Lake Oswego and typically go to Lavang about 2-3 times a month with co-workers. Everytime I go the service is pretty bad, but the Pho is sooo good. You must be patient, just order your food, speak clearly then wait until it arrives, and for Gods sake don't complain, otherwise "No soup for you!!!". Nobody gets special treatment at Lavang. If you go in with the expectation that you'll be getting treated in warm friendly manner I guarantee you'll be disappointed; if not shown the door. Enjoy the food and just laugh at how bad the service is, for me it starting to be part of the allure too...
PS - Never compliment the owner on how good the food is. He's so arrogant he already knows, and will tell you that he already knows. Plus, nobody get special treatment at Lavang and buttering him up gets you know where...
Trust me I've tried!
Pros: Excellent Pho
Cons: "Soup Nazi" like service

We found this restaurant with our GPS. It looked OK from the outside and when we got inside we were excited. The waiter whom we later found out was the owner led us to our table. He was quite talkative to our 5 year old daughter but we thought he was just being friendly. Things went downhill from here. After waiting about 10 minutes he finally came over to take our order. First he said "you want some appetizers" and I said "no." No big deal. I asked for some drinks and then he said "you going to eat Pho?". I said yes but when I ordered the first item, which wasn't pho, he looked very upset. I explained to him that I wanted Pho for me and my daughter but my wife wanted something else. At first I thought his reaction was a joke but the guy was dead serious. At this point we realized we may not come again. After 5 minutes he brought some Pho out. My daughter's order was wrong but what was more wrong was that he kept talking to her and ignoring me and my wife.... it was getting creepy. I asked again for our drinks and he mumbled something while he walked away apparently ignoring us. 5 minutes later there were no drinks, not even water. A new cusomter came in who new the guy by name... She had drinks within 1 minute. While he was yacking away with his preferred customer my wife went and talked to the other employee and asked her for drinks. She gave her some water and my wife had to carry it back herself. At this point we were not coming back again and I concluded that the guy was either dumb, lazy, ignorant or all of the above. I was wrong since I found out he is just crazy. So after we picked up our own water he brought over a bowl. He said "you wanted a bowl right?". We said "no" and that it was water we wanted. He had an attitude now and we were ready to leave. I said let's eat real quick and get out... no way were we leaving a tip... Things didn't go smoothly though. He was giving us a nasty look and after a few minutes he came over and said "what you upset about the water?" My wife said "yes about the water and upset about the service." He flipped out now and started yelling at us. He grabbed the bowls of food we had while we were eating and told us to get out. I was just dumbfounded now. I said "let's go." One the way out my wife talk to the other employee and asked to speak to the manger. She said he was the owner. He starting yelling quite a bit now and we got out pretty fast. While in the car I saw the guy throwing stuff around the restaurant at our table completely ignoring the other diners who were all staring at him...... Long story short, STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT unless you like psychotic service from people short of a few marbles. The only person he was nice to was our daughter but that was a creepy sort of nice. This guy clearly had mental issues. This was the worst service I had seen in my whole life. I've seen some pretty bad service but I've never felt so compelled to go online and write a review (my first). Maybe you don't believe me or think I was a high maintenance customer but if you look around you'll see other reviews regarding the atrocious service from this restaurant from this guy....
Pros: If they closed that would be a pro.
Cons: Pyschotic/Rude/Outlandish Owner/Service
